Troubleshooting --
The
file is not playing properly through the web interface.
- Go to the server to see if files were uploaded.
- If they were, go to the database to see if information
was uploaded correctly
- If not, type in correct information and check that
the transfer script on the encoder has the proper information.
- If files were not uploaded, go to the encoder.
- Go to the encoder to see if files were captured and converted.
- If they were, check that the correct information is in
the transfer script.
- If the information is correct, run the transfer script
again.
- Adjust
the timings in iCal. The file might need more time to
convert.
- If the information is incorrect, correct it and run
the script again.
- If the file was not converted, check the conversion script
- If it is correct, run it and then the transfer script.
- Or correct the errors and run again followed by the
transfer script
- If the file was not captured, you might be out of luck.
- Check that everything is properly scheduled on iCal.
- Check any new files that have appeared on the encoder.
The file may have been saved under the wrong name or
placed in the wrong directory. Correct the QuickTime
Broadcaster preferences and Applescript errors that may
have caused the problem.
There's no video image.
- Using Remore Desktop, check the encoder.
- Can you see the
video in QuickTime Broadcaster?
- Does Broadcaster recognize a video source?
- If not, physically go to the encoder and check that the converter
box is on and in the correct mode.
- Check the camera connection.
- Check
the converter connection.
- Restart equipment and software until you see the video in the
Broadcaster window.
There's no audio!
- Using Remore Desktop, check the encoder.
- Does Broadcaster recognize an audio source? Is it the correct
source?
- Go to the System Preferences, then Sound. Can you see movement
in the Input level? Someone needs to be speaking into a microphone
in order to check this. Do not use the built-in microphone unless
you want to hear feedback.
- Choose different devices to see if any audio is getting through.
- If Broadcaster does not recognize an audio source and there
is no sign of audio in the system preferences, physically go
to the encoder and check the iMic connection.
- Check the audio connection.
- Restart equipment and software until you see signs of audio
in the system preferences.
- Then go to Broadcaster to check that the correct sources are
chosen and recognized.
The data image is squished or lopsided
- The Canopus Twin-Pact 100 sometimes unexpectedly changes its
settings.
- Physically go to the Canopus box and use the remote to adjust
the image.
QuickTime Broadcaster is still recording! The "stop capture" script
did not run properly.
- Stop QuickTime Broadcaster and manually edit the video so that
only the correct class was captured. Once that is cropped, run
the convert scripts and then the transfer scripts.
- Re-apply the stop script in iCal.
The converted file is enormous! 2 hours should
rarely go over 600Mbs.
- Check your settings in QuickTime Broadcaster, if the wrong
audio or video compression is being used it could create large
files. Try limiting the data rate in the video section of Broadcaster
(I use 300kbits).
- If you are using qtes scripts for exporting, check the conversion
script. If Broadcaster can't find the qtes files, it defaults
to almost uncompressed files.
