QuickTime
Broadcaster (free download from Apple) is used
for Audio Only and Video captures.
Data captures should be done with the H.264 codec.
QuickTime
Pro ($30)
is used on all the encoders to convert the captured files into different
movie types.
SecuritySpy ($125
for 4 inputs) allows simultaneously capture of video, audio and data
on one encoder.
Other support software
Encoder Set Up
Each encoder needs to be set
up with the following:
Energy Saver -- No Sleeping; the encoder needs to be
awake and responsive.
Restarting
after a power failure means less leg work in the future.
Sound -- Make sure the correct input is selected and
mute the output.
Sharing -- Becuase the system is running headless,
it needs to be accessible remotely.
Accounts --
Again, with a power failure the encoder should restart with proper user
and software.
Time & Date --
Setting thedate automatically keeps the
encoder on time.
Software Update -- While software updates are important,
they tend to come up at the worst times. Update the encoders often, but
manually.
